Designed for kids of all different abilities to learn how to paddle a stand up paddle board in a sensory friendly environment. Children must be between the ages of 7 and 18 to participate. Children must be able to follow one to two step verbal directions and pass a safety screen prior to paddle. Children must be able to swim and feel comfortable in the water. During the the lesson time, children will learn safety of the water and learn basic paddle skills as well as turning if able.
Michelle Edwards, the leader of the session is a full-time occupational therapist; specializing in children with sensory processing disabilities, autism, and other developmental delays.
Parents are able to watch, however we do ask that you keep these lessons sensory friendly and not interrupt your child's lesson with their counselor especially while out on the water as a safety precaution for your child and their counselor.
